Become a Member

Whether you have been connected to CBI for years or are new, we are delighted to have you join us as a member. To join Congregation B'nai Israel please complete this application. We'll take care of the rest. We'll send you an email to confirm your membership and to give you a chance to tell us more about yourself.
We need your address to confirm your membership and send you membership materials.  You can opt out of general emails sent from CBI after you join.
Let's talk about costs.
Here is what it takes to keep CBI open:
And here is where the money comes from:
Each year we make a budget to meet expenses. We look at how many members we have and estimate what we expect them to contribute to cover our costs (ALMA, our religious school fees, are extra.  ALMA tuition pays for half of the costs of running the program).
Here's what we need from our members to cover our costs:
Family Membership:       $178 monthly ($2,080 per year)
Single Parent Membership: $141 monthly ($1,694 per year)
Individual Membership:    $115 monthly ($1,381 per year)
In addition to your membership contribution, it is vital to our building that each member contribute to its upkeep. We ask for an additional yearly contribution of $170 for the first five years. This money goes into the Building Fund. These funds are reserved specifically for building upkeep and maintenance projects. After the first five years, members are asked to contribute 7% of their membership contribution assessment into the Building Fund.
But don't let cost be a barrier to your membership!
Here are some guidelines to determine how much you may choose to pay:
Annual Household Income                     Suggested Percentage of Full Cost
Less than $20,000                                      25% (or whatever you feel you can afford)
$20,000 to $45,000                                     50%
$45,000 to $70,000                                     75%
$70,000 and up                                           100% (also consider being a Sustaining Member-see below)
Undergraduate students enrolled in area colleges are welcome at no cost.
These are only suggested guidelines.  In the end, you choose your own level.
Becoming a Sustainer
If you have resources to provide additional support to CBI, please consider being a Sustainer. By making a regular financial contribution above the expected annual membership amount, you will help sustain our vibrant community.  Please ask about the benefits of becoming a sustaining member.

Upon completing this membership application, the Executive Director, Emily Kieval, will contact you to discuss membership options and cost.  Please be sure to provide the best contact information to reach you.  We are very much looking forward to getting to know you better!  Thank you for your interest!
