Lifecycles

Jewish community and ritual is available to support all parts of the lifecycle, from birth, to b’nai mitzvah, to weddings, to end of life. Our rabbis are available to meet with you to discuss ways to mark the following moments (and more): 

Birth: Jewish babies are welcomed into the community through a brit milah or a baby naming ceremony.  Please let us know if you would like a birth announcement shared with our community.

B’nai mitzvah: Marking the milestone of taking responsibility as an adult Jewish member of the community. Typically celebrated at the age of 13 through participation in Shabbat services, some adults (who did not have the opportunity at a younger age) also choose to celebrate having a b’nai mitzvah. Marriage: Our rabbis are available to speak with you about officiation at a Jewish wedding, as well as how to build a Jewish home, and to celebrate milestones around the wedding such as an aufruf, a small celebration during Shabbat services in advance of a wedding.  

End of life: Many questions come up as people begin to prepare for the end of life, including funeral, burial, and both the logistical and spiritual questions that arise when facing the death of a loved one or one’s own death. The rabbis are available for end of life counseling, and will also support you and your loved ones through the various stages of mourning. Conversion: Our rabbis are available to discuss conversion to Judaism with you—whether you are certain that this is your path, or just beginning to explore. Conversion typically involves regular monthly meetings with one of the rabbis alongside structured study and community involvement. Most students complete the process in about a year, though the process will be discussed with each student individually.
