Hakhel! "The Gathering!"
Sunday, October 16, 2022 • 21 Tishrei 5783
1:00 PM - 5:00 PMAbundance FarmEvery seven years, on the Sukkot following the Shmita/Sabbatical year (aka, the Sukkot of Year One), the Torah commands us to hakhel- to gather. This unique assembly would take place in Jerusalem and EVERYONE was supposed to be there. During this once-every-seven-year gathering, the King would read certain key passages from the Torah, including passages that explicitly limited his own power. We warmly welcome the public to participate in this ancient festival as we mark the start of a new, seven year cycle through celebrating the strength of our local community and the resilience of the land. Festivities will include a local theatre troupe, live music, a family stage, cider pressing, wood fired cooking, and tree planting. Sliding scale admissions ($0-$36) Open to the public and for all ages.
