Special Eicha (Book of Lamentations) Reading For Tisha B'av
Saturday, August 2, 2025 • 8 Av 5785
9:15 PM - 10:00 PMCBI SanctuaryJoin together to read Eicha (Book of Lamentations) for Tisha B'av.
Tisha B’Av, is observed as the most significant day of mourning in the Jewish calendar. Tisha B’Av marks the observance of a number of historical tragedies for our people, chiefly the destruction of both the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. Over the centuries, Tisha B’Av has also been a day when Jews have mourned other more contemporary tragedies and hardships for our people. In recent years, Tisha B’Av has been an occasion for many Jews to feel and express grief for the ways the earth is being harmed, as well as for our own individual and personal sources of grief and loss.
We especially welcome and encourage community members who have never observed Tisha B'Av to consider joining us this year.
Additionally, for Tisha B'av:
Sunday, Aug 3, 9:00 am, all are invited to Ohel Minyan Morning Shacharit service with extra readings for Tisha B’Av in the Water Building (in the CBI sanctuary for inclement weather)

The practice is meant to guide us in greeting the afternoon/evening, acknowledging our own holiness and our connection to the holiness of Creation, expressing gratitude, and setting an intention for the month/ season ahead. Avodat Lev was developed by the Adamah program at Isabella Freedman. No prior prayer knowledge or practice is required and all are welcome. -
