Bio
Leah (they/she) is overjoyed to be joining Gan Keshet for the upcoming school year! They are excited for a year of new connections, discovery, and exploration. Leah loves to create and make with their hands in a variety of mediums, including knitting, sewing, collage, and most recently watercolors. She is excited to bring this enthusiasm to the classroom, teaching children how to express themselves and what it means to make an impact on the world around them. Leah developed a fascination for American Sign Language and linguistics, leading to an Associates Degree in Sign Language Interpreting from Collin College in 2020. She started her career in early education in 2024 while living in Maine, they had the wonderful opportunity to learn and work at a nature based preschool on the edge of Acadia. Leah is excited to start a new chapter at GK and pursue their bachelors from UMass with a goal of working in special education and creating inclusive, nurturing environments for preschoolers. Leah has enjoyed getting to know GK families and staff through working the summer program. While achieving their number one summer goal of not getting a sunburn, they also made local news at the Hadley Asparagus Days for their knit asparagus horns! Stay tuned for Leah's knit garlic crown this fall at the Garlic and Arts festival!
