Erev Tisha B'av Service

Join together to read Eicha (Book of Lamentations) for Tisha B'av.

Tisha B’Av is observed as the most significant day of mourning in the Jewish calendar. Tisha B’Av marks the observance of a number of historical tragedies for our people, chiefly the destruction of both the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. Over the centuries, Tisha B’Av has also been a day when Jews have mourned other more contemporary tragedies and hardships for our people. In recent years, Tisha B’Av has been an occasion for many Jews to feel and express grief for the ways the earth is being harmed, as well as for our own individual and personal sources of grief and loss.

We especially welcome and encourage community members who have never observed Tisha B'Av to consider joining us this year.

Additionally, for Tisha B'Av: all are invited to join the Ohel Minyan on Thursday, July 23 in the Water Building Garage at 8:15am for the weekday morning service and at 4:30pm for the weekday afternoon service, with special readings and songs for the fast day.
