About the Event
For nearly 2000 years, Jewish communities have practiced the sacred tradition of genizah — the respectful burial of worn or damaged holy texts and ritual objects that contain the name of God or Hebrew words, or have been used as part of religious life. Rather than discarding these items, they are laid to rest with dignity, reflecting the deep reverence our tradition holds for learning, prayer, and sacred objects.
We invite our entire community to join us as we dedicate and open a new genizah at the CBI cemetery, establishing a consecrated space for this beautiful mitzvah. This short ritual will include some brief reflections on the practice of genizah, and the invitation for everyone present to participate in the burial itself. Please join us!
