About the Event
Shiru Shabbat is a joyous, musical Kabbalat Shabbat service led by local artists and guest musicians. Inspired by the in-the-round davening style of Nava Tehila, a Jerusalem-based Renewal community, Shiru Shabbat features contemporary melodies and live instrumentation. In the winter months, we include a brief Ma’ariv service, while in the spring and summer, we focus on excerpts from the Psalms of Kabbalat Shabbat. Come listen, sing out, and connect with the CBI community as we welcome Shabbat together.
During the warmer months, feel free to bring a vegetarian, nut-free picnic dinner to enjoy after services.
Molly Bajgot (she/her) is a queer Jewish musician, prayer leader, and educator living on Nipmuc and Pocumtuc land in Easthampton, Massachusetts. A songwriter, composer, and vocalist, Molly crafts songs of hope and original melodies for Jewish liturgy, using song as a tool for personal and collective transformation. She leads musical prayer services both locally and nationally, and her music has traveled to synagogues, song circles, and communities across the country. Her debut album, Revelry, was released in February 2024. Since returning to the Valley in 2017, Molly has held a wide range of roles within the local Jewish ecosystem, and she loves building and strengthening community here in Western Massachusetts.
