Immigrant Justice Shabbat Follow-Up

Dear Friends,

We extend our gratitude to all those who attended our Tikkun Olam Immigrant Justice Shabbat service and/or the Interfaith Havdalah Gathering for Immigrant Justice. Both the morning and evening programs were very powerful--those present were clearly moved and, we hope, ready to engage further to act to proclaim and protect the humanity of our immigrant neighbors and our communities.

If you were unable to attend Refugee Shabbat, or would like to revisit either of the programs, we are attaching the link to the Shabbat morning livestream and have also attached the text of the beautiful D'var Torahs given by Rabbi Devorah Jacobson and Jane Myers, both members of our Immigrant Justice Shabbat planning committee.  The Immigrant Justice Shabbat part of the service begins at 1:55.  Here is the link to the Livestream, to view, press play, and then select to visit the previous broadcast: https://www.cbinorthampton.org/livestream.

Additionally, we have included the link to the inspiring evening Zoom presentation, given by Jared and Laurie Berenzin, founders of the Bearing Witness weekly standouts at the New England ICE facility in Burlington, MA

Please visit our Resource Page that lists organizations and opportunities to get involved in supporting our immigrant neighbors.

Our Tikkun Olam Committee continues to reach out to our CBI community for donations to The Pioneer Valley Workers Center (PVWC).  Located in Springfield, PVWC serves low-wage immigrant workers and their families and is the lead organization in our area for the statewide LUCE Hotline, which alerts immigrant communities to the presence of ICE and provides support to family members whose loved ones have been taken by ICE.  The PVWC operates on a shoestring budget that has had to be stretched further and further to accommodate the increasingly pressing needs of vulnerable immigrants in these dangerous times.  In the spirit of Immigrant Justice Shabbat, we have extended the donation period.  Please make your donation to the Tikkun Olam Grants Fund:  Donate today!

We ask that our entire CBI community amplify the messages of Immigrant Justice Shabbat by continuing to help our immigrant neighbors through our deeds and actions.  For further information on how to get involved, contact: saraweinberger128@gmail.com .
